Gas cylinders come in several varieties. You can choose from either liquid or siphon tube options with cylinder sizes ranging from 5 lbs up to 75 lbs. Cylinder gases can be used for a wide range of purposes:

Beverage grade CO2 and Nitrogen gas cylinders are used for various beverages and helium is used to keep balloons afloat.

  • Carbon Dioxide – Carbonated Beverages and Beer
CO2 is used to carbonate beer and other beverages. Broward Nelson guarantees its customers a reliable supply of beverage grade CO2 in 5 lb, 20 lb, 50lb  and 75 lb. size cylinders.
We also provide siphon CO2 tanks for special effects, supercritical extraction, and recharging smaller gas cylinders.
  • Nitrogen – Non-Carbonated Beverages
Nitrogen may be used in many applications to preserve the quality and dispense of such non-carbonated beverages as coffee, wine and cocktails on draft.  Broward Nelson provides nitrogen in 5 lb., 20 lb. and 50 lb. sizes.
  • Nitrogen / Carbon Dioxide Mixes – Draft Beer
CO2 and nitrogen blend cylinders are often used to serve draft beer at bars and restaurants. Beer gas is a mixture of C02 and N2 gases used to propel certain varieties of beer. Broward Nelson carries multiple blends of gases in 20 lb. and 50 lb. cylinders.
  • Helium – Balloons
Broward Nelson sells Helium in 219cu ft./ 50 lb. cylinders that fill approximately 750 – 9″ balloons as well as a smaller party size helium tank. Helium is ideal for blowing up large numbers of balloons for a party or special event or grand opening.

CO2 has a wide variety of industrial uses. High-pressure CO2 is used by electricians to run wires through conduit at construction sites, and for creating special effects at parties and sporting events. Furthermore, CO2 can be used in place of acid to control the PH levels in swimming pools.

Frequently Asked Questions

Broward Nelson does not refill Soda Stream CO2 tanks.  We do, however, carry siphon CO2 cylinders which can be converted to fill your Soda Stream tanks at home.

When storing a compressed gas cylinder, ensure it is kept in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, secured upright with chains or straps, away from heat sources, and protected from physical damage. Always keep the valve protection cap on when not in use, and never store cylinders near exits or in areas with heavy traffic.

When transporting a compressed gas cylinder, always ensure the valve is closed, the protective cap is securely in place on the valve and use a designated cylinder cart to move it. Never drag, roll, or drop the cylinder, and never transport it with a regulator attached. Always secure the cylinder properly on the cart to prevent movement during transport.

CO2 tanks get cold after being filled because the liquid carbon dioxide inside turns into gas as it is released, taking heat from the metal casing of the tank. This is due to the energy required to change from a liquid to a gas phase, which is taken from the tank’s casing in the form of heat.  CO2 is also stored at extremely cold temperatures in its liquid form, well below freezing.

Tanks must be retested every 5 years for safety. The retest date is stamped on the collar.  Outdated tanks won’t be refilled until inspected and recertified.
